Acrylic and pastel pencil on canvas
140 x 140 cm

This third painting in the Elemental series began as an exploration of geometric shapes. The triangle kept surfacing in my mind, so I chose it and set it against a landscape that moves from dark at the bottom to lighter at the top, with no clear line between earth and sky.

I wanted the triangle to feel monumental and statuesque, to command the space it occupies, although in a sombre tone. At first glance it seems dark and ominous, but look closer and you’ll find many colours woven together to create its rust-brown tone.
